Judean Hills Bike and Wine

Enjoy a day of biking through the rolling hills, Roman ruins and vineyards of the Judean Hills.

Judean Hills Bike rideThe Judean Hills region was a known wine country from the days of King David 3000 years ago. Today it is a hub of the booming local wine industry thanks to good climate and boutique wineries.

The Judean Hills is also an historic crossroads and the ruins from different periods are part of the attractions of our ride.

Our ride will begin though vineyards and olive groves in the Adolam region.

Judean Hills WineIf we keep our eyes open we will see all of the Seven Species mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy.

We will pay a visit to caves and a columbarium carved in the rock from the period of the Bar Kochva revolt against the Roman Empire.

 

From here we will ride to a one of the local wineries to try some of the best wine in the country and hear about the difrent graps and wines that can be found in Israel.

For those that wish to extend the tour to a full day, we will ride from here to the Beit Guvrin- Maresha National park.

Maresha was one of the cities of Judea during the time of  the First Temple and is mentioned among the conquests of the ancient Israelites in the Book of Joshua.

Beit Guvrin CavesWe will also see some fascinating burial caves hiddin between the rocks.

The tour is great combination of easy biking, great wine, archeology and breath taking views.

Half day tour – Aprox. 15 Km/ 10 Miles
Full day tour – Aprox. 30 Km/ 14 miles

Starting and ending point is a half hour drive from Jerusalem and 40 minute from Tel Aviv.

Picnic lunch can be added to the program.
